Video update + 20% discount on e-books

Sunday is going to be a day when we feature solution videos to our puzzles. Today we’re pleased to have a video for this morning’s Consecutive Pairs Sudoku from Cracking the Cryptic / Simon Anthony.

Also, we have just relaunched a new version of our e-store for our puzzle PDF books, which should be much easier to use with more payment options, cart functionality, search functionality for authors and genres, notifications when PDFs are updated, …. Note that the old accounts / passwords will not work here but we can share prior purchases with you if you need to grab the downloads again.

We’re still doing some visual improvements as many of our books never had covers or online examples. We will likely highlight one old title each week with sample puzzles while we update the catalog.

For the whole month of June, we will have a 20% discount on all titles in the shop (automatically applied at checkout). So this is a great time to catch up on any past collections from GMPuzzles that you may have missed. And please tell us if you run into any issues with the new store.

So how much are you going to pay Simon to do all your solution videos? I could watch his unbridled puzzle enthusiasm all day long.

  • Scott Handelman says:

When you say”solution videos to our puzzles” do you mean all puzzles or selected puzzles as it had been?

Similar to the past, but published for all to see and not behind a subscription paywall/limited distribution.

My current plan (for GMPuzzles-prepared videos) is 1 a week, plus releasing from our “archive” another 1 each week for now. We will also try to link out to other solve videos that come up (like the Cracking the Cryptic example where we had shared the puzzle early). I don’t think at the moment we have a path to 100% coverage as the goal, but creative solutions may arise. There is a balance between “tutorial” style videos like ours, and also “blind” solves like the link here. So I really look for community feedback on what is more helpful and interesting if we broaden the effort or reach out to other twitch/youtube puzzle folks.

Is Tapa and Variations 2 a new ebook? The publish date says May 2020 and I don’t see it in my library.

Hi Aaron — because we were working on changing our e-stores, I “quietly” released TaV2 in May. I’m intending to announce it on the blog this weekend as well as share an example puzzle, as we will have a Tapa week coming up. So you are correct that this is a new title for purchase.
