This is a “Twisted Tuesday” puzzle variation.

Theme: Mostly themeless, besides the variation itself.

Rules: Variation of standard Fillomino rules. In addition to polyominoes of the same size not being allowed to touch, polyominoes that differ in size by one (for example, 3 and 4) also cannot touch.

Answer String: For each cell in the marked rows/columns, enter the area of the polyomino it belongs to. Start with the 5th row, followed by a comma, followed by the 8th row.

Time Standards (highlight to view): Grandmaster = 2:30, Master = 3:15, Expert = 6:30

Might be themeless, but this solve was at least 80% dictated by the variation’s rule. Might put it close to a logical theme. I like how several of the blocks had to do some acrobatics in order to fit and avoid touching consecutive blocks.

  • Ours brun says:

I didn’t have a watch near me but I am quite sure I hit the Grandmaster time on this one; the nonconsecutive constraint made for a very smooth path and every move seemed to follow the previous one naturally. Thanks for one more very nice puzzle, Grant.

    Loved this puzzle.

02:42. Shoot; the Grandmaster here is tight.

Nicely flowing puzzle. There is that certain theme repeated four times (at the corners). But well, not much else; only that it’s nice.
